Thermal Eye wo Flame Set

I've got a milk chocolate C series with the cool Thermal Eye and just got the manual. But the manual describes a Thermal eye with 'Flame Set'. Mine does not have that on the dial, and, as far as I can tell, not on the control unit. Anyone know what the different versions of the Thermal Eye were? The stove doesn't have the plate with serial numbers on it that I see described in others, on the right front burner mount, but does have a simple silver plate with "32439" on it on the left front burner mount. Can anyone tell me what year it is? Thanks, Joseph

Hello Joe,
Chambers introduced the "Burner with the Brain" in Spring of 1957. There were two versions of this feature. Chambers bought the controls from Robertshaw and used whatever version Robertshaw could supply at the right price. Some ranges had the Robertshaw Thermal Eye Model FA with Flame Set and others had The Robertshaw Thermal Eye Model BJAF. I think Chambers used the BJAF in the begining, then switched to the FA in about 1959. I can supply you with info on either model. If you bought your manual from The Uncertain Stoveman, let me know.
